Heroes' Square and City Park

You'll find the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hall of Art facing each other on Heroes' Square, which was built for the 1000th anniversary of the country in 1896.

Archangel Gabriel is sitting above the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the 7 chieftains, who conquered the Carpathian basin, the land that later became Hungary, while the most important personalities in Hungarian history are displayed on the semi-circled colonnades. The Széchenyi thermal spa, the Art Nouveau-zoo, one of the largest historic ice rinks of Europe, the Vajdahunyad Castle, along with the statue of Anonymus are all in the City Park, which lies behind the largest square of Pest.
